Autoresponders – What are they?

An autoresponder is a computer program that automatically answers e-mail sent to it. They can be very simple or quite complex.

Autoresponders are often used as e-mail marketing tools, to immediately provide information to their prospective customers and then follow-up with them at preset time intervals.

Autoresponders are also incorporated into electronic mailing list software, to confirm subscriptions, unsubscriptions, posts, and other list activities.  Several reliable commercial autoresponders exist such as Auto Email Marketer and Aweber. (Wikipedia)

Autoresponders – What are the Benefits?

These days it’s almost not worth your effort if you don’t have an autoresponder, also known as an opt in form or email lead capture form, set up on your website.  Having an autoresponder on your site is a very powerful tool that is a must on any website to help you attract and capture leads.

So how do they work?

When a prospect arrives on your webpage, you can entice them to fill out their details, which is usually just a name and email address to receive something of value to them, usually a free product you are offering.  For example, you may offer them a free report on how to get fit, a healthy eating regime or tips on how they can save money. Some even offer free ebooks, newsletters and downloads.

A huge benefit of having an autoresponder set up on your website is that it doesn’t have to be monitored.  So when a visitor from the other side of the world lands on your page and is interested in the free report you are offering. They fill in their details, and the auto responder takes care of everything while you sleep.  Now you have their contact details.

You can now continue to communicate with your prospect and build a relationship with them, all on autopilot. Often it takes more than one visit to your website for a sale to occur, so this will allow you to remind them of your great offers.

We live in a busy world and lead busy lives and it’s easy to forget about things or indeed where we found that great product online.
By setting up an autoresponder, you’re going to regularly remind your prospects about what you offer and this way you will be able to prompt them to return to your site and hopefully become your customer.
